Hallaton hoard

The Hallaton hoard in Leicestershire , England is one of the finds "of national importance". Some of Hallaton's 5000 silver and gold coins were made by the local Corieltavi (formerly known as Coritani) tribe. It is the largest Iron Age coin treasure in Great Britain and is housed in the Harborough Museum, which opened in 1983.

The hoard from the 1st century AD was discovered in 2000 by metal probes , along with some Roman ceramics, in a field outside the village. They also discovered the remains of an ornate Roman parade helmet (" Hallaton helmet ") and some mysterious silver objects.
