Hoshino Gakki KK ( Japanese 星野 楽 器 株式会社 , Hoshino Gakki Kabushiki kaisha ) is a Japanese musical instrument manufacturer headquartered in Nagoya .
The brands Ibanez for guitars and Tama for drums are known.
history
Hoshino was founded in 1908 by Matsujiro Hoshino as a bookstore selling sheet music. Little by little, musical instruments were also imported to Japan. From 1929 guitars were imported to Japan from the workshop of the Spanish guitar maker Salvador Ibáñez. Telesforo Julve bought the company at the end of 1933 and produced guitars under the name "Salvador Ibáñez é Hijos".
From 1935 onwards, Hoshino himself began to manufacture stringed instruments in Nagoya under the name Ibanez Salvador . The brand name was later shortened to Ibanez .
In 1962, Junpei Hoshino, the founder's grandson, opened the Tama Seisakusho factory to produce electric guitars (replicas of well-known brands), amplifiers and drums. From 1966 only drums were made here.
The guitar production was then outsourced to contract partners such as Fujigen .
