The Hotel Bayerischer Hof is a listed hotel building in the historic old town of Freising (Upper Bavaria).

history

The stately building dates partly from the early baroque ( roof of the west wing from 1614). Around 1840 the neighboring buildings were renewed and combined with the old building, and around 1860 another renovation was carried out in the neo-Gothic style. The wing facing the street has two crenellated stepped gables .

A brewery has been established at the location of the Bayerischer Hof since the 17th century . In 1637 Simon Klaffenbacher, mayor of Dachau and later also mayor of Freising, became its owner through marriage. From the middle of the 17th century the brewery was named Heiglbräu after the owner at the time, Servibus Heigl.

In 1825, Franz Sporrer , who himself came from a brewery, married the widowed owner of the Heiglbräu . In 1834 he acquired the two neighboring houses: the Heigl bakery and the Weindlbräu inn . He had all three buildings demolished in order to build today's hotel in their place.

In 1889 Franz Dettenhofer, a former member of the 3rd Cheveauleger Regiment stationed in Neustift , bought the inn. After a further fundamental modernization, he reopened the building under the name Bayerischer Hof . It is still owned by the Dettenhofer family. From 2012 to 2014, the hotel was extensively renovated while it was still in operation.
