The building, erected from 1907 to 1910, is located in Ciudad Vieja on Calle Rincón 640-650 at the corner of Calle Bartolomé Miter and is also known under the name Palacio Gandós . The Hotel Colón, which originally served as a commercial building - originally Leoncio Gandós' business was located here - and hotel, whose architect was Juan Mirande , now houses offices instead of the hotel and serves as the headquarters of the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID). The architecture of the building shows a strong French influence. Since 1975 it has been classified as a Monumento Histórico Nacional .
