The Hotel Imperial is a listed large hotel from the early days in the Croatian seaside resort of Opatija (Abbazia until 1947).

In view of the great success of the Hotel Quarnero , which opened in 1884, the Austrian Southern Railway Company immediately began building another large hotel in the spa town of Abbazia, which it had developed. As in the case of Quarnero, Franz Wilhelm was the architect . In 1885, today's Hotel Imperial opened its doors under the name "Hotel Kronprinzessin Stephanie". The further political history of the region can also be read from the changing names. During the Italian period it was called "Regina Elena" after the wife of Viktor Emanuel III. , 1945–48 Hotel “Moscow”, after Tito's break with Stalin it was called Hotel “Central”, from 1966 “Imperial”.

At the end of the 19th century, the imperial, along with the Kvarner, was the leading house of Abbazia and housed monarchs and statesmen. Today it struggles with similar problems as the Kvarner (originally Quarnero) and tries to position itself as a congress hotel. The magnificent “Golden Hall” is remarkable.
