Hotel Nacional de Montevideo
The Hotel Nacional is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .
The building, erected between 1888 and 1890 on the initiative of Emilio Reus , is located in Ciudad Vieja on Piedras, Cerrito, Ing.Monteverde and Lindolfo Cuestas streets . The architect of the building, which was originally designed as a hotel building, was Juan Tosi . After it later housed the Faculties of Mathematics and Architecture and finally the Faculty of Humanities (Facultad de Humanidades) of the Universidad de la República , according to sources, the building was not used around 2008. The 17-meter-high, four-storey building covers an area of 2438 m².
The Hotel Nacional has been classified as a Monumento Histórico Nacional since 1996 .
