A hotel bus is a motor vehicle that is used in tourist traffic in areas that are mostly not or hardly developed for tourism. Around 15 to 40 fellow travelers have both a seat - similar to a tour bus - and a comfortable bed like in a mobile hotel or mobile home . The inventor is Georg Höltl , who founded Rotel Tours and whose son Georg Höltl jun. Today, Rotel Tours operates the largest tourism company with hotel buses. Nightliners are similarly - more often but more comfortable - equipped .

The name is also used for a shuttle bus that runs on behalf of one or more hotels between the hotel and a conveniently located destination such as the train station or the city center.
