List of breeds of chicken |
The Houdan chicken is a breed of domestic chicken belonging to the meat chicken breed . It was from " Dorkings ," Bart Hood chickens and various land blows in France bred. The large, full hood is a holdover from crossed crève cœurs . The name is derived from the city of Houdan , where the animals were first sold in large numbers in markets. In other European countries, the first animals appeared in England in 1850 .
The 2–3 kg chickens lay moderately to well. The species has a pronounced breeding instinct, which due to its comparatively high weight can often lead to complications such as broken shells in the eggs. The attitude outside turns out to be complex, as long as the plumage and the hood are to remain in full splendor.
