Houjiayao site
The Houjiayao-site ( chinese 侯家窑遗址 , Pinyin Hóujiāyáo yízhǐ , English Houjiayao Site ) is a Paleolithic archaeological site, in 1973 in the southwest of the village Houjiayao (侯家窑村) the greater community Dongjingji , Circle Yanggao , Province of Shanxi , was discovered and Excavated in 1976 by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IVVP) under Jia Lanpo and Wei Qi . 16 human fossils and 14,041 stone tools were discovered, they are approximately 100,000 years old.
The sites of Xujiayao and Houjiayao (Xujiayao-Houjiayao yizhi 许 家窑 - 侯 家窑 遗址) in Yanggao County have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 1996 (4-2).
