The Hovdøyane (from Norwegian hovd , head, skull, roundness' ) are a group of islands off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . They are located in the northeast part of Prydz Bay .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named them, mapped them in detail using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 .
