Howard Charles (born September 6, 1983 ) is a British actor. He became known through the character of Porthos in the BBC series The three Musketeers (2014).

Life

Howard Charles is the son of English and Jamaican parents. He studied at Kingston College in England from 2000 to 2005 . He later received Leverhulme Scholarship and attended the Drama Center London with a BTEC level in Performing Arts.

Upon graduation, Charles began a classical theater career, initially appearing in stage productions for The Cherry Orchard and Enron at the Chichester Festival Theater . He played in the Royal Shakespeare Company productions in The Merchant of Venice and Macbeth and also in the Blackta and The Young Vic theaters . Painting A Wall at the Finborough Theater, The Hounding of David Olwale played Charles in a variety of theaters including the Birmingham Repertory Theater, Everyman Liverpool and Hackney Empire. In the Manchester Royal Exchange, he joined Three Sisters on, the Edinburgh Festival in The Local Stigmatic and in Paris he played in the Center Pompidou , the piece Les Thursdays .

Charles made his television debut in 2008 in the retro sitcom Beautiful People and was initially only used in supporting roles. In 2014 it established itself as Porthos , one of the BBC series The Musketeers , which is based on the characters created by Alexandre Dumas. Other series roles followed in The Quest , The Widow and The Red Line .

In December 2015 he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Fortunately, he made a full recovery and resumed his career in late 2016.
