Hu Deping

Hu Deping ( Chin.胡德平, Pinyin: Hú Dépíng; * 1942 ) is a Chinese politician . He is Vice President of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Deputy Director of the United Front Division of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China . In 1967, Hu graduated from Peking University's History Department , and during his postgraduate studies became an avid researcher of Cao Xueqin's book " Dream of the Red Chamber " .

family

Hu Deping is the eldest son of Hu Yaobang and his wife Li Zhao. He is married to An Li, the daughter of An Ziwen, who was also a high-ranking party member at the time. They have two children together; Hu Zhizhi and Hu Xiaoguang. He has three siblings: his three years younger brother Liu Hu, his seven years younger brother Hu Dehua and his sister Li Heng.

Political career

When his father was the general secretary of the CCP , Hu Deping held the position of general secretary of the United Front Division of the Central Committee. With Hu Yaobang's resignation, his son's resignation was also requested, but Zhao Ziyang declined. Allegedly with the words that father and son should be treated differently. At the Seventeenth Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in October 2007, Hu caused a sensation when he said that socialism and democracy are not contradicting each other. He even supported a democratic system in China.
