Huang Gai

Huang Gai ( Chinese  黃蓋  /  黄盖 , Pinyin Huáng Gài ), age name Gongfu , (* 145 in Quanling; † 222 ) was an officer of the Wu Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms period in ancient China.

Life

Huang Gai was from Quanling District (now Yongzhou , Hunan ) and joined Sun Jian in the 180s to fight the Yellow Turban rebels . Later he proposed a fire attack on Cao Cao's overpowering fleet at the Battle of Chibi , which he carried out himself. He has received numerous awards and honorary degrees during his long career.
