Yongzhou
Yongzhou ( Chinese 永 州市 , Pinyin ) is a district-free city in the south of the Chinese province of Hunan , north of the Nanling Mountains . The administrative area of the city has an area of 22,441.43 km² and around 5.43 million inhabitants (2016). 540,930 people live in the actual urban settlement area of Yongzhou (2010 census). The city is over 2,000 years old. It is famous for its beautiful, old and still excellently preserved old town . Temples , towers and the old city walls show that Yongzhou once played an important role in the province. It is an important transit station between China's north and the South China Sea . Because of its port, in addition to its economic advantages, it was also of interest to military strategists.
Yongzhou is also an important and worth seeing city on a cultural level . The city attracts numerous tourists , especially with its many non-religious temples and the eight attractive landscapes of Yongzhou. One of the most famous temples is Ningyuan . It was here that Confucius was sacrificed to the Chinese thinker and local ruler .
Yongzhou is also known for its Qiju opera and the teaching of Li from the Song and Ming dynasties, one of the most important philosophical directions in China. The origin of the famous women's script (Nüshu) came from the old town of Yongzhou.
90% Han Chinese live in Yongzhou . Only 10% of the population are members of the Yao nationality.
Yongzhou is one of the emerging cities in China.

Administratively, it is made up of two city districts, eight districts and one autonomous district. They are:
- Lengshuitan District 冷水滩 区, 1,218 km², 490,000 inhabitants;
- Lingling district 零陵 区, 1,959 km², 580,000 inhabitants;
- Dong'an东 安县county , 2,211 km², 590,000 inhabitants, main town: Baiyashi白 牙 市镇municipality ;
- District Dao道县, 2441 km², 670,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Daojiang道江镇;
- Circle Ningyuan宁远县, 2508 km², 740,000 inhabitants, capital: Street district Shunling舜陵街道;
- Circle Jiangyong江永县, 1633 km², 250,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Xiaopu潇浦镇;
- Lanshan County 蓝山县, 1,807 km², 350,000 inhabitants, main town: Tafeng Municipality塔 峰 镇;
- Xintian district 新 田 县, 1,004 km², 370,000 inhabitants, main town: Longquan龙泉 镇municipality ;
- Circle Shuangpai双牌县, 1739 km², 170,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Longpo泷泊镇;
- Qiyang district 祁阳 县, 2,519 km², 980,000 inhabitants, main town: Wuxi浯 溪 街道street district;
- Jianghua Autonomous County of the Yao江华瑶 族 自治县, 3,216 km², 460,000 inhabitants, capital: Tuojiang沱江 镇municipality .
