Shaoyang
Shaoyang ( Chinese 邵阳 市 , Pinyin Shàoyáng Shì ) is a district-free city in the Chinese province of Hunan . Shaoyang has an area of 20,829 km² and approx. 7.26 million inhabitants (2016). 574,527 people live in the actual urban settlement area of Shaoyang (2010 census). The city forms a traffic and trade center in the upper Zi valley. The Shaoyang dialect of Xiang is spoken in Shaoyang .

At the county level, Shaoyang consists of three city districts, two independent cities, six counties and one autonomous county. These are:
- Shuangqing District (双 清 区), 137 km², 250,000 inhabitants, city center and seat of the city government;
- Daxiang District (大 祥 区), 215 km², 300,000 inhabitants;
- Municipality of Beita (北 塔 区), 84 km², 80,000 inhabitants;
- City of Wugang (武冈 市), 1,532 km², 740,000 inhabitants;
- City Shaodong (邵东市), km² 1776, 1.18 million inhabitants;
- District Shaoyang (邵阳县), km² 1997, 930,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Tangdukou (塘渡口镇);
- Circle Xinshao (新邵县), km² 1763, 730,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Niangxi (酿溪镇);
- Circle Longhui (隆回县), km² 2871, 1.08 million inhabitants, the capital: greater community Taohong (桃洪镇);
- Circle Dongkou (洞口县) km² 2184, 780,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Dongkou (洞口镇);
- Suining County (绥宁 县), 2,899 km², 340,000 inhabitants, capital: Changpu Municipality (长 铺镇);
- Xinning County (新 宁县), 2,751 km², 580,000 inhabitants, capital: Jinshi Municipality (金石 镇);
- Autonomous County of Chengbu der Miao (城 步 苗族 自治县), 2,620 km², 250,000 inhabitants, capital: Rulin municipality (儒林 镇).
