Huaranguillo is one of the most difficult to reach places in Pisuquía District , Luya Province , Amazonas Region , Peru .

Directions

To get to Huaranguillo, go to Ocallí , from there it is about 8 hours on foot or on the mule.

Place name

The name "Huaranguillo" comes from the small-leaved and prickly Huarango shrub, which is widespread in the whole area around Huaranguillo. Huaranguillo is also called "Comunidad del Frejol" in the language of the locals, which means something like "bean village" in Spanish.

Huaranguillo consists of 50 houses, making it the fifth largest town in the Pisuquía district.

In Huaranguillo, agriculture is still practiced according to centuries-old traditions. As the nickname of the village, "Comunidad del Frejol", suggests, the production and cultivation of beans is particularly important.
