Huasco

Huasco is a port city in the north of the South American Andean state of Chile . It is located on the Pacific Ocean in the province of the same name , which belongs to the Región de Atacama . The city has 7945 inhabitants (as of 2002). In summer Huasco belongs to the time zone UTC − 3 (Chilean Daylight), the rest of the year to UTC − 4 (Chilean).

Huasco is about 50 km west of the provincial capital Vallenar .
