The Huber Verlag GmbH & Co. KG was a magazine and book publishing in Mannheim . The publishing house was founded by Günther Brecht in 1980 and employs 60 permanent employees in editorial, graphics, marketing and subscription management as well as more than 150 freelance reporters. The periodical magazines Bikers News , Custombike , Dream-Machines , Tatoo magazine and Tattoo Erotica are published . In addition, the publisher publishes the Dream-Machines Roadbook and the Roadster Roadbook once a year , which serve as yearbooks for the coming motorcycle season. With book productions typical of the scene and other activities such as the organization of motorcycle and tattoo fairs such as the Custombike (trade fair) and the Custombike Summer Days in Mannheim or the scene shop mail order business, the publisher has created additional pillars.

After 40 years of existence, Huber Verlag filed for insolvency at the Mannheim District Court on February 4, 2020. Business operations in the form of magazine printing and events are to be continued without restriction during the bankruptcy.

Magazines

Bikers News has existed since 1980 and deals with the German and international biker and rocker scene.

In 1992, Huber Verlag's second magazine , Bikers Live , came onto the market. In January 2005 the magazine was renamed Custombike. Custombike shows choppers, athletes, classics, fighters, exotic vehicles and reports in detail about technology, design and the current possibilities of customizing. Driving reports on the latest production motorcycles, accessory tests and travel reports complete the range of topics in the monthly magazine.

The tattoo magazine has been published since 1994, the editor-in-chief is Boris Glatthaar.

Since 1999 another motorcycle magazine has been published that is exclusively dedicated to the Harley-Davidson myth: Dream-Machines .

The tattoo erotica has been published since 2005, in 2013 an extensive relaunch was carried out. The magazine, which started as an annual special issue, is now published six times a year.

In July 2007 the publisher released the Dynamite! Magazines . The scene sheet deals with the topics of the rock'n'roll lifestyle such as music, clothes, accessories, cars, bikes and everything that has arisen from it or has to do with it. It reports on the trends in the scene, on hot topics from stars and personalities, dates, events and the latest CDs, LPs, DVDs and books. Each issue has an exclusive for Dynamite! Magazine produced and limited CD at.

In May 2009 the publisher took over the Reise Motorrad magazine from Lila Publishing Verlag in Munich. In 2016 the magazine was redesigned and renamed to ride on - Reise Motorrad. In December 2017 the print magazine was discontinued and activities were relocated to the online platform.

After a year of preparation, the media company published a car magazine for the first time in December 2009. Motor Maniacs - The Authentic Car Magazine shows every two months on 148 pages oldtimers , youngtimers , custom cars , American cars, muscle cars and other unusual cars built up to around 1980. In May 2013 the production of the magazine was stopped again.

In October 2014, the publisher took over the music magazine Punkrock from private hands. Shortly afterwards, in December 2014, after six months of preparation, the first edition of Roadster magazine appeared. The magazine deals with pure motorcycles, so-called naked bikes .

In July 2015 the magazines Punkrock and Dynamite Magazine were withdrawn from the market. Roadster magazine was discontinued in 2019 .

On February 4, 2020, Huber Verlag filed for insolvency at the Mannheim District Court . The reason given was the noticeable decline in revenues throughout the magazine industry and the missed connection to digitization. On June 29, 2020 it was announced that Huber-Verlag will be closed.
