Huberhaus (Bellwald)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Huberhaus is a holiday home in the Swiss municipality of Bellwald .

history

The year of construction of the Huberhaus is unknown; it is believed that the oldest parts date back to the 16th century. In 1723 the house was rebuilt and restored. The last resident (until 1891) was a Klemenz Huber. The name Huberhaus goes back to him . The building was only used by the later owners as a storage room or as a carpenter's workshop.

In 2003 the "Altes Bellwald" foundation took over the Huberhaus in order to preserve it as part of the historical townscape. She initiated the first repair and securing work. In 2006 the Stiftung Ferien im Baudenkmal was able to take over the house from the “Altes Bellwald” foundation. The aim of the foundation established by the Swiss Heritage Protection Agency is to establish a connection between monument preservation and tourism in order to preserve valuable architectural monuments and reuse them. Under the direction of the architect Bernhard Stucky, the building was restored so that it could be used as a holiday home in the future. The interior was designed by Jasmin Grego from Zurich. The renovation was completed in March 2008 and the Huberhaus was given its new purpose as the foundation's first property.

In 2007, the proceeds of the annual Schoggitaler collection of the Swiss Heritage Protection went to the Foundation Holidays in Monument. The Huberhaus was one of the objects selected as motifs.

description

The Huberhaus is a traditional, alpine knitted building. The cellar is located in a brick base made of stone. Above is the wooden knitting structure. The entrance leads directly into the kitchen in the rear, partially bricked part of the house. In the front part to the south there is the living room and above it the bedroom. There is a newer extension on the north side. The roof is covered with shingles . The height of the interior is approx. 1.88 meters. The old front windows of the south facade have also been preserved, to which double-glazed rear windows were added during the renovation. There are also numerous historical elements inside, including a. the stone slabs of the kitchen floor and a wooden staircase to the gallery. This leads to the two bedrooms on the upper floor. During the restoration in 2006, the rear part of the younger part was removed and replaced by a wooden extension with the same structure. This is now the bathroom and another bedroom.
