Hubert Numrich (born December 19, 1958 in Darmstadt ; † January 2, 2020 there ) was a German martial artist and trainer. The highlights of his martial arts career were fights against the K-1 legends Peter Aerts and Ernesto Hoost as well as against the then kickboxer Vitali Klitschko . Hubert Numrich was considered the first German "freefighter" and pioneer for today's MMA in Germany. With more than 40 years of martial arts experience, he trained many of today's successful martial artists.

Life

In the 90s, Numrich founded the martial arts school "Sharks Gym" in what was then the social hotspot of Darmstadt-Kranichstein , which was later continued by the city as a social project under the motto "Prevention of violence through martial arts". Later he founded another martial arts school called "Raptors Gym" in Darmstadt.

Martial arts

The multiple German kickboxing champion has mastered 13 different martial arts and has fought 250 fights in 20 different countries in his career. He fought in the controversial octagonal cages in the Netherlands, Brazil and Las Vegas. In 1995 he was the first German kickboxer to take part in the " K-1 World Grand Prix ", in which fighters from various martial arts compete against each other in Japan. There he was defeated by the world-famous K1 legend Ernesto Hoost . One of his biggest fights is the fight for the kickboxing world championship against Vitali Klitschko in Paris in 1991. After a point decision, he was able to win against Numrich.
