Hubert Schmidt is an Austrian basketball coach .

career

Schmidt played for two years for the Vienna club DC Timberwolves in the 2nd Bundesliga. As a youth coach he promoted the future NBA player Jakob Pöltl with the Timberwolves . In 2010 Schmidt won the championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga as Robert Langer's assistant coach with the men of the DC Timberwolves. Langer then left the club, and Schmidt took over the position of head coach. In 2012 and 2013 Schmidt also worked as an assistant coach for the Austrian national team.

In 2015 Schmidt led the Timberwolves as head coach to win the 2nd Bundesliga, but the promotion to the top division was missed in the relegation against Graz. In 2018, the Timberwolves were again champions of the 2nd Bundesliga under Schmidt, and received the license for the basketball Bundesliga season 2018/19. In the 2017/18 season, the club's male U19s also won the state championship under Schmidt's leadership as a coach.
