Hubertus Brauner

Hubertus Brauner (born February 27, 1951 ) is a former German disabled athlete.

Career

Hubertus Brauner comes from Zwickau in Saxony. Although he is dependent on a wheelchair because of paraplegia , he did not want to do without competitive sport. He therefore became a member of AS Zwickau . He chose athletics as his sports discipline, which he successfully practiced in the fields of shot put, javelin, discus and pentathlon . Because of his outstanding achievements, he was appointed to the German national team for disabled sports after the fall of the Wall, in which he was able to record numerous successes in his sports. In 1992 he took part in the Summer Paralympic Games , where he won bronze medals in the shot put and in the javelin throw.

For this win he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1993 by Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .

After Brauner's success at the Paralympics in 1992, he was also used at the 1994 World Championships. Here he won a silver medal with a width of 8.31 m in the shot put in the F 53 performance group, while he won a bronze medal in the F 53 performance group in the discus throw.

He was also a member of the German team again at the Paralympic Summer Games in 2000 and again won a bronze medal in the shot put.
