In her book From Baghdad to Basra. Al-Hilali tells stories from Iraq about everyday life in Iraq , using both oriental and western narrative techniques that reveal absurd or Kafkaesque elements. The gift of observation, the love of telling stories and the language of the hands and looks as a form of communication are able to grasp people as a whole.
