The navicular bone ( lat. Os sesamoideum distale ) is the name given to the sesamoid on the deep flexor tendon of ungulates . One navicular bone is formed per toe. It lies under the tendon at the joint between the coffin bone and the corolla bone . Between tendon and navicular is a bursa , the bursa ( navicular bursa ).

Bursa, navicular bone and flexor tendons are also summarized under the term " hoof roller " (Latin podotrochlea). The term “hoof roller” is sometimes used by laypeople to refer to inflammation of the same (→ podotrochlosis ).
