Hugh Jones (producer)

Hugh Jones , along with John Leckie, is one of the most important British producers of the 1980s in the field of new wave and guitar pop. He started out as a sound engineer on the early Simple Minds albums . He later made a name for himself as a longtime producer of Echo & The Bunnymen and through his work with The Sound , James , Del Amitri , The Icicle Works , The Colourfield and Siouxsie and the Banshees . In the 1990s he also worked as a producer and mixer on a number of important LPs in the genre, such as B. on most albums of the Bluetones and several commercially very successful Dodgy LPs in Great Britain , also on the second LP of the Charlatans . He is still active as a producer today.

With David Balfe and Troy Tate from The Teardrop Explodes he recorded the songs The Winds and Burst Balloons for the compilation To the Shores of Lake Placid on Balfes Label Zoo under the name The Turquoise Swimming Pools . Jones played guitar here.
