Hugo Guillermo Chávez (born October 16, 1976 in Veracruz , Veracruz ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .
Life
Chávez began his career as a professional footballer in 1993 with his hometown club Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , with which he was under contract until 1997 and with the beginning of the 1995/96 season came more often to use after he was allowed to gain practical experience in 1994/95 with the Delfines Jalapa branch .
In 1997 he moved to CA Monarcas Morelia , with whom he won the only championship title in the club's history in Torneo Invierno 2000 .
During his five years with the Monarcas , he also made the leap to the Mexican national team , for which he played two half-time games against Chile (1-0 on April 11, 2001) and England (4-0 on May 26, 2001 ) completed.
