Hugo II Embriaco
Hugo II. Embriaco or Hugo II of Gibelet (* before 1157; † between 1179 and 1184) was lord of Gibelet in the county of Tripoli .
He was the son of Wilhelm II Embriaco von Gibelet and his wife Sancha. After the death of his father around 1159, Hugo II succeeded him as Lord of Gibelet. He favored the trade of his compatriots and especially those of the vice-counts' Genoese families, who controlled trade with Syria. His son continued this policy. As a result, the Embriaco family gradually gained a strong degree of independence from their mother city, Genoa .
The name of his wife is not known. After his death, his son Hugo III inherited him .
