Hugo Rasch (born February 24, 1913 in Bottrop , † September 15, 1960 in Düsseldorf ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school, Rasch completed training in the building trade from 1927 to 1930. From 1930 to 1932 he continued his education with evening courses, attended the building trade school at the same time and then worked as a technician in road and hydraulic engineering until 1936. After the National Socialists “came to power” , he was arrested in 1933 for political reasons. From 1939 to 1944 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was last seriously wounded.

From 1946 to 1949, Rasch worked as a technical employee at the city ​​of Essen . He joined the union and served as a works council in 1947/48. In 1948 he became the state chairman of the Reich Association of War Victims and Civilians, Social Pensioners and Survivors in North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1949 he was the organization manager of the association at federal level.

Political party

He quickly joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) in 1927 and was a member of the SPD from 1931 until the party was banned in 1933. In 1946 he rejoined the SPD.

MP

Rasch belonged to the German Bundestag from 1953 until his death. He was drawn into parliament via the state list of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia.
