history

HUMAX was founded in 1989 in Seoul , South Korea , and has been listed on KOSDAQ since April 1997 under the WKN (28080KQ). The company was founded in February 1989 as Conin System Co., Ltd. by seven graduates of the Seoul National University , Department of Control Engineering and Instrumentation. Sales of digital karaoke machines for private use began in May 1992 and the development and sales of set-top boxes for digital satellite reception in September 1996.

As the world's leading receiver manufacturer, HUMAX has its headquarters in Korea and offices in Japan, the Middle East, India, Australia, Europe and the USA. In January 2000 the German subsidiary HUMAX-Digital GmbH was opened in Oberursel near Frankfurt. This has been in Unterföhring near Munich since May 2013. All of the company's activities in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe are controlled from here.

In November 2000, the export total reached 100 million US dollars and a year later 200 million US dollars. In May 2006 the first PREMIERE HDTV cable receiver from HUMAX came onto the market and in December 2007 HUMAX delivered the first HDTV hard disk recorder with the iCord HD. “ICord” was registered as a protected trademark in November 2008. In December 2008, the PDR iCord HD was the first HDTV hard disk recorder to be certified for Premiere.

Among the twelve satellite receivers evaluated by Stiftung Warentest in mid-2015, there was also a Humax model, the NANO Eco. He did not become the overall winner, but they gave him the best picture quality of all.
