Humfried I of Toron

Humfried I of Toron (* before 1094, † around 1137) was Lord of Toron in the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

The origin of Humfried is unknown.

Toron Castle in the Galilee Mountains was built by Hugo von Falkenberg , Prince of Galilee in 1105 on the road from Tire to Damascus and soon became the focus of an independent rule that belonged to the vassals of the Prince of Galilee.

After Hugo's death in 1107, or at the latest in 1109, Humfried was enfeoffed with Toron. Between 1120 and 1128 it is documented several times in the suite of King Baldwin II of Jerusalem . He founded the noble Toron family , which had some influence in the Kingdom of Jerusalem. When he died, he was followed by his son Humfried II.
