Hump Island (from English hump 'hump, hump' ) is an island off the Mawson coast of the east Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In Holme Bay , it is east of the East Arm of Horseshoe Harbor .
Aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 were used by Norwegian cartographers to map the island. Further aerial photos were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia gave it the descriptive name based on its shape.
