Humyo was a company and a file hosting - service . Access was possible via a web interface . For users of the paid premium offer, a client called SmartDrive was offered. The client was available for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. On June 14, 2010, Humyo was taken over by Trend Micro .
Since June 2010 the Internet and telephony company Alice-DSL has been offering an online hard drive under the name "Alice Disk" or "Alice SmartDisk". The technology of the product came from Humyo.
functionality
In the free version, access to the online storage was possible via a web interface. Customers of the paid premium product were able to install the SmartDrive client. The installation of the SmartDrive client created a new drive on the computer. In the client, it was possible to set which directories should be automatically synchronized with the online storage.
Products
10 GB of storage space was available free of charge, 5 GB of which could be used for media files (pictures, music, etc.) and 5 GB for other file formats. The Premium product with 100 GB of storage space was offered for € 5.94 per month. The premium annual subscription cost € 59.49. For € 7.94 per month, 100 GB of additional storage space could be purchased.
history
The company was founded in England in January 2007, where the data center was also located, where all data was backed up. There were branches in England, Germany, France and the Czech Republic. Around 600,000 customers used the product. In June 2010, Humyo was acquired by Trend Micro and renamed SafeSync. The SafeSync service was discontinued on January 31, 2017.
