The Hungry Hill ( Irish : Cnoc Daod ) is a 686 meter high mountain and is located in Ireland in the Caha Mountains on the Beara Peninsula in County County Cork . The name of the mountain is believed to be an incorrect interpretation of Angry Hill .
Only in the lower part is there a little tree population, otherwise it is very rocky and boggy except for the spacious summit. A comfortable ascent is possible from the south. The first approx. 300 meters in altitude can be mastered via a comfortable path. After that, sturdy and waterproof footwear is necessary. At times it goes through ankle-deep water, which you cannot avoid even by detours. The trail markings are very sparse and often hardly recognizable. Despite the damp ascent, you can always find interesting rock formations and small clear lakes. The summit is very extensive. Depending on the weather, the summit offers a charming panoramic view of the Beara Peninsula and the sea.
Hungry Hill is also known from a novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier .
