The Husaberg Motor AB was originally Swedish , now the KTM Sport Motorcycles GmbH belonging producer of Enduro - motorbikes with cylinder - two and - four-stroke engines . The brand was founded in 1988 by engineers from Husqvarna Motorcycles GmbH . At the end of 2013, the Husaberg brand was replaced by Husqvarna.

history

After the motorcycle section of the traditional Husqvarna brand was bought by the Italian Cagiva Group in 1987 , the engineers who had remained in Sweden founded Husaberg Motor AB in 1988 . The machines initially had a reputation for having a particularly good chassis . The first model was the FE 501 , with which it was possible to win the Enduro European Championship that same year.

The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM bought Husaberg in 1995. Production has been taking place at the KTM headquarters in Mattighofen since 2003 . The development department is now also in Austria - only the motorsport department is now in Sweden. It is claimed that the use of tried and tested high-volume technology has significantly improved the stability and quality of the engines. In the case of the chassis, however, it is criticized that the use of the high-volume technology from WP Suspension means that the new chassis concept is more of a step backwards.

In the 2011 model year (presented in July 2010), Husaberg offered two-stroke models for the first time in the company's 22-year history .

On May 16, 2013, the current owner announced under the heading “We bring together what belongs together” to merge the Husaberg brand with the Husqvarna brand. This ends the story of Husaberg.

The last model year was 2014. Since then, the Husaberg models have been called Husqvarna and both have thus merged again into one brand.
