Husik Santurjan
Husik Santurjan ( Armenian Հուսիկ Սանթուրյան , Russian Усик Сантурян ; * as Azat Santurjan 1920 in Sebastia (Sivas), Turkey ; † February 1, 2011 in Etschmiadzin , Armenia ) was Archbishop of the Armenian Apostolic Church .
Life
Santurjan immigrated to Armenia in 1947 and studied at the theological seminary in Echmiadzin. In 1961 he became Archbishop of the Azerbaijani Diocese of Armenians. 1962 was consecrated bishop by Wasgen I , the "Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians". Santurjan was chief monk of the monastic brotherhood of Saint Etchmiadzin for almost 30 years. He died in St. Gayane Monastery in Etchmiadzin, where he has been cared for by nuns from the monastery since early 2011.
Awards
Patriarch Karekin II. Nersissian honored him with the order of “St. Nerses Schnorhali ”of the Armenian Church.
