Hussain Shah Syed

Hussain Shah Syed (born August 14, 1964 in Lyari , Karachi ) is a retired Pakistani boxer .

Syed won the gold medal at the South Asian Games in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989 and 1991.

At the Olympic Games in 1988 he won the middleweight (-75 kg) after victories over Martín Amarillas , Mexico (3: 2), Musungay Kabongo, Democratic Republic of the Congo (5: 0), and Zoltan Fuzesy, Hungary (3: 2), and a semi-final defeat by Egerton Marcus , Canada (4-1), the Olympic bronze medal.

Syed was the first Pakistani ever to win an Olympic medal in boxing. For his sporting success he was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the Pakistani government, the third highest civilian award in Pakistan.
