The Hyōgo Daigaku ( Japanese. 兵 庫 大学 , dt. " University Hyōgo ", English Hyogo University ) is a Japanese private university, which is supported by the Buddhist educational body Mutsumi-Gakuen ( 睦 学園 ) ( Jōdo-Shinshū sect Honganji-ha ). The campus is located in Kakogawa in Hyogo Prefecture .

history

The school has its origins in the Buddhist Taishi Sunday School ( 太子 日 曜 学校 ), which was founded in 1921 to commemorate the 1300th year of Shōtoku Taishi's death . In 1923, the Suma Taishi House ( 須 磨 太子 館 , Suma Taishi-kan ) was built and the girls' sewing school was opened with him. In 1937 the school developed into the Suma Mutsumi Girls' Vocational School ( 須 磨 睦 高等 実 践 女 学校 ). In 1951 the school body was renamed Mutsumi-Gakuen (the name Mutsumi means "friendship").

In 1955, the educational corporation founded the Mutsumi Gakuen Women's Short University ( 睦 学園 女子 短期 大学 , Mutsumi gakuen joshi tanki daigaku ) with a department for day care . In 1966, the short university moved to today's campus and was named Hyōgo short university for women ( 兵 庫 女子 短期 大学 , Hyōgo joshi tanki daigaku ). In 1995 it developed into the co-educational Hyōgo University. In 1999 she founded the Graduate School (master’s courses).
