Hy Heath

Walter Henry ("Hy") Heath (born July 9, 1890 in Oakville , Tennessee , United States , † April 3, 1965 in Los Angeles , California , United States) was an American song composer, entertainer and author.

Life

Hy Heath originally taught in public schools. He later appeared in music theaters, variety shows, and burlesque shows and was also a minstrel. Johnny Lange and Fred Rose were among his most important musical companions . He was best known for the song Mule Train , which he wrote in 1948. The songwriting team Glickman (1903-1981), Heath and Johnny Lange wrote Mule Train for the western Rauchende Pistolen (Original title: Singing Guns , 1950, directed by RG Springsteen ), with Vaughn Monroe , Ella Raines and Walter Brennan in the leading roles. The song received an Oscar nomination for Best Song in 1951 . The first two lines of the song are: Mule train, yeah, yeah. Mule train: clippetty-clopping over hill and plain.

Hy Heath died on April 3, 1965 at the age of 74.
