Hymenopus is a genus of the order of Mantis (Mantodea). The species of the genus Hymenopus belong to the flower imitators , their bodies can hardly be distinguished from the flowers of tropical plants by numerous appendages. The genus iswidespreadin the tropical rainforests of East Asia and, with its mimicry, preferablyimitates orchid flowers . The animals arekept and multipliedin the terrarium .

Systematics

The genus Hymenopus stands together with the genera Creobroter , Pseudocreobotra and Theopropus, which are also kept more frequently, in the tribe Hymenopodini , the only tribe of the subfamily Hymenopodinae .

The genus includes the two species Hymenopus coronatus and the Hymenopus coronatoides, which occurs exclusively in China .
