Anthem Nationale Voltaïque
Hymn Nationale Voltaïque was the national anthem of Upper Volta from 1960 to 1984. The melody and text were created by the clergyman Robert Ouedraogo. The author consciously refused to give the hymn a military-musical character and resorted to a local folk melody for the composition . The first public performance took place during the independence celebrations on the night of August 5, 1960.
The anthem was replaced by the current national anthem Ditanyè on August 4, 1984 , when the state symbols were also changed in the course of the renaming of the country to Burkina Faso .
French text
- Fière Volta de mes aieux,
- Sound soleil ardent et glorieux
- Te revêt d'or et de clear
- Ô, Pure drapée de loyauté!
- CHORUS
- CHORUS
- Le travail de ton sol brûlant
- Sans fin trempera les cœurs ardents,
- Et les vertus de tes enfants
- Le ceindront d'un diadème triomphant.
- CHORUS
- Que Dieu te garde en sa bonté,
- Que du bonheur de ton sol aimé,
- L'Amour des frères soit la clé,
- Honneur, Unité et Liberté.

- Trembling from the furious voices
- Of your proud children who stand by
- The promise of a blessed future.

- Steel your glowing hearts without end

- Will crown them with a triumphant diadem.
