Anthem mode
Hymnemode , French Hymnemode (* 455 ; † after January 3, 516) was a Burgundian monk and first abbot of the monastery of Saint-Maurice . He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church . His feast day is January 3rd. Other forms of the name are Hymnemundus , Hymnemondus or Hynnemond .
Life
Hymn mode was an official at the court of the Burgundian king Gundobad . Notwithstanding the objections of the Arian Gundobad, he entered the Grigny monastery near Vienne on the Isère and became its abbot. When Gundobad's son Sigismund founded the Saint-Maurice monastery in 515 after his conversion to Catholicism, he asked Hymnemodus, first abbot of the To become a monastery. The Burgundian king wanted to move his subjects to turn away from Arianism and also to convert to the Catholic Church.
