Hymns by Johnny Cash is the fifth studio album by the American country singer Johnny Cash . It was produced by Don Law and appeared in May 1959 as the successor to The Fabulous Johnny Cash . Between the two albums, Sun Records released Greatest! another album by Cash.
The album contains only religious and spiritual songs, making it Cash's first all-gospel album.
In 2002 Columbia / Legacy released a CD version of the album that contained one more song (an alternative version without choirs of It Was Jesus ).
