HyperWerk

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HyperWerk is an internationally networked institute at the University of Art and Design of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland , which deals with the issues of the social transformation process towards the information society in project-oriented training and research . It was founded in 1999 as a department for process design at the Basel School of Design and Art and has been part of the same since 2006.

The process to which Hyperwerk is dedicated takes place in work and education as well as in the forms of life and business. The projects realized at HyperWerk are correspondingly diverse, as are the biographies, disciplines and qualifications of those who study and teach at HyperWerk.

Major fields of study

At the HyperWerk, students learn to use changes methodically as a potential for their creative action: Understanding and acting, designing and realizing follow the requirements of procedural design. Theoretically and practically sound knowledge of the design and implementation of interactive processes is imparted.

The connection between design , technology and management as the central fields of study is redefined again and again in the work on post-industrial scenarios. At HyperWerk, it's not about specializing in one subject, but rather about the ability to redefine boundaries and connections between different disciplines over and over again and according to the respective issue. The resulting projects are concrete proposals for partners and customers from different social and cultural areas, who can try out and use the potential of change themselves.

Study structure

The academic year at HyperWerk is divided into seven modules. In their implementation, they refer to an annual theme that is developed by the students themselves. This also ensures that, for example, the examination of design aspects in a module is always related to a specific question.

For each of the seven modules, external leaders are hired on an international level who, with the support of the HyperWerk management team, design the content of one module.

Each module develops its own module project over the course of the academic year, which is published as a contribution to the annual topic.

In addition to the module-specific offers, there are special interest groups in which qualifications can be acquired regardless of the course of the module and the focus of the year. The SIGs deal with communication, design, process design, technology, documentation and media theory.
