Alban KS Bagbin

Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin (born September 24, 1957 , Sombo, Upper West Region , Ghana ) is a leading lawyer and politician in Ghana. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has a seat in the Ghanaian parliament for the constituency of Nadowli West in the Upper West Region.

Education and career

Alban received his secondary education at the Wa Secondary School (WASEC) and later at the Tamale Secondary School (TAMASCO) In 1977, Bagbin graduated from the Tamale Secondary Scholl as the best student. He studied law and practiced as a lawyer between 1986 and 1992. Between 1989 and 1992, Bagbin was an attorney for the Credit Unions Association and in 1993 moved to the Law Trust Company, which he co-founded.

Bagbin is the minority spokesman for the opposition party NDC in the current parliament of Ghana.

Between 1997 and 2000 he was a member of the National Media Commission, and between 1996 and 2000 he was also chairman of the Committee on Water Affairs. He also chaired the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

Bagbin is married and has no children. Bagbin's parents were poor farmers from the Dagaare people .
