A anhidrosis or Anidrose (via the French , this via the Neo 19th Century from the ancient Greek derived: negative syllable αν- , arrival and ἱδρώς , HIDROS ( "sweat") or fachsprachlich with preserved ancient Greek ending of the compound word Anhidrosis or Anidrosis ) is a lack of sweat secretion. An only reduced sweat secretion is called hypohidrosis. The opposite is hyperhidrosis (hyperhidrosis). Anhidrosis is usually symptomatic and localized due to the disease. The sweat glands are sympathetically innervated . Possible causes of anhidrosis are:
- severe skin aging
- Skin diseases ( radiodermatitis , scleroderma )
- Sympathetic failure ( spinal cord injury, sympathectomy , damage to or blockage of the sympathetic ganglia )
- Diabetes mellitus (sympathetic polyneuropathy ) or other forms of polyneuropathy
- Hereditary diseases (anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, Fabry disease )
- Mental illness (" hysteria ")
- as a sign of anticholinergic side effects in z. B. Antidepressant Therapy
- leprosy
- CIPA syndrome
- Naegeli syndrome
- Ross syndrome
- Stüve-Wiedemann syndrome
Since sweat plays an important role in heat dissipation, extensive anhidrosis can lead to thermoregulatory disorders , and in the worst case to heat stroke .
Anhidroses occur not only in humans, but z. B. also with horses .
