The ICC Austria ( International Chamber of Commerce Austria respectively. International Chamber of Commerce in Austria ) is a division of Commerce Austria and National Group of the International Chamber of Commerce (International Chamber of Commerce, ICC) for Austria . It is thus both the representation for Austria's foreign trade interests and the lobby organization for free trade . Her tasks are mainly networking and advice, as well as dispute resolution and financial support.

history

The Austrian representation of the International Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1919, was established in 1921 and - as the only one of the war opponents of the founding states - took part in the first ICC conference in London. Of the 45 countries that were members in 1929, only 25 had formed national groups, and to date there are only 58 such national organizations.

After the Second World War, the agency could only be re-established in 1950.

In 1975 the now renowned International Arbitration Court of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce ( Vienna International Arbitration Court or Vienna International Arbitral Center , VIAC ), which is independent from the ICC, was created as a legally dependent organization of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) ( arbitration rules : Vienna rules; mediation rules : Vienna Mediation Rules) . Therefore, Austria has two independent institutions for international trade and international commercial arbitration within the WKÖ.

Organization and membership

ICC Austria is based at the General Secretariat of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna. The manager is Maximilian Burger-Scheidlin.

Membership is - unlike the statutory compulsory membership in the Chamber of Commerce itself - voluntary. It has around 500 internationally active industrial companies and dealers, around 30 banks, 90 law firms and 20 industrial associations, institutions and chambers as active members.

tasks

The tasks include:

  • Promote global trade
  • Support for your members and as a contact for foreign companies and organizations (such as an information point, advice on drafting contracts or negotiating strategies, seminars on import / export)
  • Help in dispute resolution (advice on arbitration and prevention of disputes, mediation)
  • Economic crime prevention
  • Financing of exports and imports (such as bank guarantees, letters of credit, document collections)
