Heinrich von Trott zu Solz

Hans Heinrich Siegfried von Trott zu Solz (born May 16, 1918 in Kassel , † October 14, 2009 in Nentershausen ) was a German officer and forest scientist .

Life

Trott was the youngest son of the royal Prussian state minister August von Trott zu Solz and Eleonore von Schweinitz . After studying forestry , he served as an active officer in World War II. In 1944 he deserted , unknowingly on the same day that his brother Adam von Trott zu Solz was executed as a resistance fighter against the Nazi regime. After the war he ran a sawmill until 1977 and worked as a forester.

In order to work up his experiences, he maintained intensive contacts with Reinhold Schneider or Ludwig von Ficker , the editor of the cultural magazine “ Der Brenner ”. He was also happy to make himself available to students as a contemporary witness.

After his death, his body was buried in the family cemetery in Imshausen .
