Der Brenner was a bi -monthly publication for art and culture founded by Ludwig von Ficker in 1910 , which was soon known throughout the German-speaking area as a forum for cultural criticism and avant-garde literature and was published by the Brenner Verlag in Innsbruck until 1954 . The title of the publication referred on the one hand to the Brenner Pass , on the other hand to its model, the magazine Die Fackel published by Karl Kraus .

Until the beginning of the 1920s , the burner was a mouthpiece of Expressionism . Later, the focus shifted to linguistic and theological essays and poetry .

Retro-digitized copies of all years of the journal are available in the context of the Austrian Academy Corpus (the archive was not available in May 2019) and in the database Der literäre Expressionismus Online of the publishing house Saur / de Gruyter (to be used via libraries; for persons residing in Germany per National license available).
