The ICE Futures US , formerly New York Board of Trade (NYBOT), a futures exchange for commodities futures in New York .

history

In 1998 the "New York Cotton Exchange" (NYCE) founded in 1870 and the "Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange" (CSCE) founded in 1882 began to merge to form the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT). The merger was completed on June 10, 2004.

NYCE began trading cotton futures in 1870 and expanded its offering to include futures on frozen orange juice concentrate in 1966. The CSCE developed through the establishment of the "Coffee Exchange of the New York City" in 1882, the expansion of its product range to include sugar contracts in 1914 and the merger with the "New York Cocoa Exchange" founded in 1925.

The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 destroyed the NYBOT headquarters in the World Trade Center . On February 26, 2003, the stock exchange moved its headquarters to the New York Mercantile Exchange building in the World Financial Center .

On September 14, 2006, the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), a US exchange that primarily trades in electrical energy, crude oil, natural gas and emissions of sulfur oxides (SO x ) and nitrogen oxides (NO x ), announced the acquisition of NYBOT on. The offer included a cash payment of $ 400 million and the transfer of 10.297 million ICE shares. The offer valued NYBOT at around $ 1 billion.

The purchase was completed on January 12, 2007. On September 3, 2007, the exchange was named "ICE Futures US".
