history

Founded in 1908, IFK Sunne joined the Riksidrottsförbundet two years later and took up competitive gaming at the same time. After the introduction of the league system in the 1920s, the team played in the lower class for a long time. At the end of the 1959 season, she rose to the third division for the first time, as the season winner of her third division season she marched straight through to the second division. Here, however, the newcomer to the league only occupied one relegation place and went straight down again together with IK City and Hallstahammars SK . As relegated, the team dominated their third division season with 17 wins in 22 season games and returned to the second highest division. This time, as eighth of the table, she initially held on to the game level, but the following season the club ended again on a relegation zone. Again the immediate return to the second division followed, but with only one win of the season the club had no chance there and rose again to the third division alongside Gefle IF and Gimo IF .

At times at the end of the 1960s further involved in the fight for promotion, IFK Sunne rose in 1971 to the fourth class. After several years, the club returned briefly to the third division in 1976, but rose again in 1978. Regularly playing for promotion to the third division, the team distanced the competition in 1981, but did not stay in the third level. In 1986, she survived a league reform in the fourth division, but said goodbye in the following season as relegated from higher-class football.
